Collaging the Deep Impulses of The Enneagram

Alexandra Vance and Katy Taylor will share their own collage explorations of the underlying spiritual impulses of the Enneagram and invite participants to explore the Enneagram through collage. Many people get caught up in thinking about the Enneagram—analyzing, memorizing, and studying it, but engaging only the intellectual mind. We find collage work to be a powerful tool that encourages the activation of all three Centers, thus allowing access to our intuitive inner knowing about any subject, in this case the Enneagram. For both of us, this process brought whole new depths of understanding of the types, how and why they evolve as they do, their connection to the Divine, what they feel like from the inside out. You will discover the depths of The Enneagram through collage, an expressive arts approach.

Our instinctual nature perplexes and confuses our choices, life directions, desires, relationships and spiritual connection. When our basic natural instincts are distorted our lives end up in chaos and lack clarity, purpose and meaning. The Enneagram teaches directly about the powerful drives of the instinctual self and offers understanding about healing the fixations associated with each of the instincts. This workshop will help you clarify your own instinctual patterns and stack, recognize how your life choices have been driven by unexplained energy and desire, and explore practical ways of dealing with these energies in order to create balance, harmony and meaning in your life.

Understanding the interplay of fear, desire and choice in our personal lives expands our ability to co-create meaning, health and perfect expression within self, relationships, business and community. The Levels of Development describe predictable patterns of reactions for each Enneagram type. Knowing these, we can measure where we are and choose the engine that will drive us to where we want to be. Each level of development indicates either our constricted fixations with ego and our identification with them or the degree of freedom we have from these obsessions and fixations. Freeing ourselves from these offers hope and a lightness of being which opens us to an expansive realm of choices and opportunities. This workshop will help you identify your own patterns and level.

“Mother, where is your heart?” This and many other questions will lead you into living truth telling and honest connection. “Who are you daughter? How are you precious and powerful?” “Tell me your story and I will sit and listen.” This workshop will address this special relationship between mothers and daughters. The Enneagram is a dynamic personality typing system that reminds us of who we are meant to be outside of our ego identifications. Understanding personality helps us reframe unhealthy bonds between people, which allows us to look at each other with quiet minds and hear each other with compassionate hearts, reenergizing our relationships. Your mother or daughter need not be present in order for this workshop to be effective. This workshop will enrich your relationships with all women individually and collectively, create allies in this Cultural Revolution, clarify bonds and support the potential of both mothers and daughters.
